What is Selective Pallet Racking?
Selective pallet racking is the most widely used pallet storage system in Australia and the world. Built from upright steel frames and horizontal beams, it stores palletised goods on multiple levels while allowing forklifts to access every pallet directly from the aisle — no shuffling, no double-handling.
The system works on a simple principle: one pallet in, one pallet out. Each pallet position is independent, giving warehouse teams 100% selectivity across the entire stock. Load levels are fully adjustable, so bays can be reconfigured as pallet sizes and product ranges change.
Selective racking delivers the lowest cost per pallet position of any racking system, combined with the fastest pick rates. That combination makes it the natural choice for warehouses handling many SKUs, fast-moving inventory, or a mix of both.

Use of selective pallet racking
Selective pallet racking is ideal for businesses such as retailers and wholesalers, who typically have a wide range of SKUs with minimal stock.
One of the most important factors when deciding whether or not selective racking is right for you is the number of SKUs (stock-keeping units) in comparison to the number of actual pallets of the product being stored.
The greater the number of SKUs, the more important the role of selectivity and accessibility will be. The lower the number of SKUs in relation to the number of pallets being stored, the less important selectivity is.
